St. Augustine

St. Augustine grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) is a warm-season, coarse-bladed turfgrass commonly used in residential and commercial landscapes. It exhibits high shade tolerance compared to other warm-season grasses and performs best in well-drained soils with moderate to high fertility. St. Augustine spreads through above-ground stolons (runners), forming a dense turf that competes effectively against weeds. It thrives in temperatures between 80°F and 100°F and requires consistent moisture for optimal growth, although newer cultivars have improved drought resistance. Common maintenance practices include mowing to a height of 2.5 to 4 inches and periodic dethatching to maintain vigor.

Bermuda

Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) is a warm-season, fine- to medium-textured turfgrass valued for its exceptional heat and drought tolerance. It establishes rapidly through both stolons (above-ground runners) and rhizomes (underground stems), forming a dense, durable lawn that performs well in full sun. Bermuda thrives in temperatures between 75°F and 95°F and requires well-drained soils with moderate fertility. It exhibits excellent wear resistance, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Proper maintenance includes mowing to a height of 1 to 2 inches, regular fertilization, and occasional dethatching to maintain turf vigor and density.

Zoysia

Zoysia grass (Zoysia spp.) is a warm-season, dense-growing turfgrass known for its fine to medium texture and superior drought and wear tolerance. It spreads via both stolons and rhizomes, creating a thick, carpet-like lawn that effectively suppresses weeds. Zoysia performs best in full sun but can tolerate light to moderate shade better than Bermuda. Ideal growing temperatures range from 80°F to 95°F, and it adapts well to a variety of soil types, including clay and sandy soils with good drainage. Maintenance includes mowing to a height of 1.5 to 2.5 inches, moderate fertilization, and occasional dethatching to prevent thatch buildup.

Red Mulch

Red mulch is a decorative, organic ground cover typically made from shredded or chipped hardwood that has been dyed with non-toxic, long-lasting colorants. It serves both functional and aesthetic purposes in landscaping by helping to retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weed growth. The vibrant red pigment enhances curb appeal and creates contrast around plants, trees, and garden beds. Red mulch is especially effective in high-visibility areas and pairs well with green foliage and light-colored stone or concrete. For best performance, apply a 2–3 inch layer and replenish annually to maintain color and coverage.

Black Mulch

Black mulch is a dyed hardwood mulch designed to provide both functional and visual benefits in landscaping. It is treated with non-toxic, carbon-based colorants that offer long-lasting color retention. Like other mulches, black mulch helps conserve soil moisture, regulate temperature, and suppress weed growth. Its deep, rich color creates a striking contrast against green plants and lighter hardscape features, making it ideal for modern and formal landscape designs. A recommended application depth is 2–3 inches, with annual touch-ups to maintain color vibrancy and coverage.

Pine Bark

Pine bark mulch is an organic mulch derived from the outer bark of pine trees, available in shredded, nugget, or mini-nugget forms. It is lightweight, slow to decompose, and ideal for long-term moisture retention and soil insulation. Pine bark naturally acidifies the soil over time, making it a preferred choice for acid-loving plants such as azaleas, hydrangeas, and camellias. Its loose texture allows for excellent drainage and air flow, reducing compaction around plant roots. Apply in a 2–3 inch layer for optimal performance, and reapply annually or as needed to maintain depth and coverage.

Enriched Top Soil

Enriched topsoil is a premium soil blend composed of screened native topsoil mixed with organic compost or other nutrient-rich amendments. It is designed to improve soil structure, enhance drainage, and boost nutrient availability for healthy root development. Ideal for lawn installation, garden beds, and landscape grading, enriched topsoil supports vigorous plant growth by increasing microbial activity and moisture retention. It is typically applied at a depth of 2–6 inches depending on the project and should be raked and leveled for proper grading before sod or seed installation.
